Sign of the Whale Antiques has been in business in the heart of the village of Glen Ellyn, Illinois for 28 years. (Glen Ellyn is approximately 25 miles west of Chicago, and easily accessible by interstate highways.) It is a group shop comprised of the following four businesses: Caroline Jacobsen Antiques, Kandy Craig Antiques, Virginia Larsen Antiques, and Liberty Tree Antiques. The owners are Caroline Jacobsen, Kandy Craig, Virginia and John Larsen, and Barb and Ron Lemme.
While each of us operates our own individual antiques business, collectively Sign of the Whale specializes in 19th century American country furniture in pine, cherry, walnut, and painted surfaces, as well as quilts, hooked rugs, lighting, folk art, decoys, early glass, oil paintings, and yellow ware. We strive to offer items of quality to the beginning as well as advanced collector, to dealers, and to those seeking to furnish their homes with antique pieces of merit.
The shop is located at 558
Crescent Boulevard, open Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm; we are closed Wednesday and Sunday. Our annual Christmas Open House
will be held Sunday November 9, from 12 to 4, and we remain open Sundays in December, 12 to 4. We are also available by appointment. Our phone number is 630 469-5320. Please feel free to call, or contact us at info@signofthewhaleantiques.com.
In addition to our open shop, Ginny, Kandy, and Barb exhibit at the fall and spring Fox Valley Antiques Shows in St. Charles, Illinois, as well as other quality shows. Barb, Ginny, and Kandy are members and past officers of the
Chicago Suburban Antiques Dealers Association. Barb is also a member of the
